IPA
IPA
The IPA was invented in Britain. British sailors, while sailing to India, loaded up barrels of beer with hops, because hops were a preservative. The hops hung around in the beer for so long that they lost their fruity flavour and left a bitter tasting beer.
Did you know… IPA reportedly came to be in the 1700s when more hops were added to Pale Ale to help it withstand the long journey from the UK, over to the British Empire in India, where it was too hot to brew.
